My Sex is Not Your Sex– Wicked Wednesday

My Sex is Not Your Sex– Wicked Wednesday

I watched a Bones episode where a murder took place on a resort for pony play. I was fascinated, I’d heard of pony play but I never looked into it. It’s one of those kinks that just isn’t my thing (I could totally have a puppy, though). Booth, one of the main character devalued pony play. He thought the ponies and trainers were odd, that the practice of pony play was abnormal. At the end he told the main character that vanilla sex is the best way to go. She agreed and they shared a drink.

This pissed me off. Actually, I was livid. In order to review sex toys for Good Vibrations I agreed that I would be totally sex+, and for those kinks that aren’t just for me, I will respect that some people like that and there’s nothing wrong with that. Your sex is your sex, it doesn’t affect me and it’s not for me to judge you. The sex I participate in is my deal, no one else has a right to say that I’m not normal.

To counteract that episode and the sex negative aura I contacted Greenery Press for a review copy of their book, Human Pony. I devoured that book, soaking up all the pony headspace I could, trying to put myself in the shoes of a trainer. By reading that book I discovered that pony play is not my thing (it’s something I would try).

The word “hater” comes to mind when I think of Booth. He’s a close-minded character, I’ve noticed that throughout the seasons. Let me tell you, I’m not a fan of his. To judge someone else’s sex in relation to yours is big-headed, not a quality I value. Please, people. If something isn’t the way you like to play that doesn’t mean it’s not as good as your vanilla sex or relationship. Get over yourself. Just because something doesn’t work for you doesn’t make my experiences and likes any less valuable than mine.  Your sex is not my sex.

  1. Ugh, I hate when people do this. It’s definitely something I’d like to see more media creators incorporate when it comes to any kind of sex-related stuff (be it partner preferences or kinks or the material of their lingerie or anything else) — the position of “I do what I want, you do what you want, let’s not get in one another’s way”.
